Prayer and Fasting 2016 Day 4 - A people who walk in humility

Day 4 - A people who walk in humility

Zephaniah 2:3 Seek the Lord [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], All you humble of the land Who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital].
Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the Lord’s anger. (Amplified version)

James 4:5-10  Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “[a]He [b]jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Isaiah 66: 1 -2  “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that [a]I may rest? 2 “For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

Learning to humble ourselves and walk in humility before God and man will be a major key for protection, provision, access and advancement in the coming days. God is looking for a humble people whom He can work through and trust with His works and authority. It is part of the "family likeness" that attracts God to us.

Humility is not abasement of self, groveling, putting yourself down or hiding who you are from others. False humility, which is really a form of pride and rooted in the fear of man, is not of God. True humility is seeing yourself as God sees you and living under His superior nature/power and His superior opinions in which you have the freedom to be who you really are, nothing more, nothing less. There is no regard for what man thinks or values or accepts. You have no need to exalt yourself because you already are God's valuable creation. Your identity is with Him, not the world. With this mindset/attitude we honor God and we are free to honor others.
